Classes at Lupine Lane

I'd like to explain the classes that Lupine Lane offers.  As I explained in the last post, if there is a "Lil'" in front of the class name, that indicates a "Mommy and Me" class.  The exception is Family and Friends Playtime, where parent or guardian participation is always encouraged.  If there is no "Lil'" and just the class name, the class is considered a "Drop Off" class.  Not all classes have a "Lil'" counterpart.
Alright, now on to the class descriptions.

Lil' Absolutely Art and Absolutely Art
Children will create unique and meaningful art projects with their parent or caregiver's help in Lil' Absolutely Art and independently in Absolutely Art. The creations will be showcased and celebrated. The projects will be enhanced with music and children's literature.

Lil' Kinder Cooks and Kinder Cooks
Children will learn about the process of cooking and baking, as well as about nutrition, manners and clean up alongside of their parents in Lil' Kinder Cooks and independently in Kinder Cooks. When time permits, children's literature and music will enhance the kitchen experience. Children will try new foods and have the opportunity to share their creations with friends and family.

Lil' Music Makers and Music Makers
Children will learn about music by using different instruments and their voices to make their own music. The class will also involve in creating instruments and encourage movement. Lil' Music Makers requires parent participation, Music Makers is a "drop off" class.

Fun With Photography
Fun With Photography participants will begin by learning some of the history of photography. Children will learn about pictures before the digital age. Then, each week, children will work on specific assignment, where they are free to utilize their personal creativity. The pictures will be developed digitally, and participants will create unique ways to preserve their photographs.  Each class will involve the students’ showcasing their work for friends and family.

Writer's Workshop
Each class of Writer’s Workshop will consist of a different aspect of writing.  Children will first explore the non-fiction genre by composing an autobiographical piece. Next, the aspiring authors will try their hands at fiction. Additionally, children will have the opportunity to try their pen at poetry. Each meeting will consist of a workshop period, where the writers will learn the importance of editing. Finally, writers will illustrate their written work and then organize their pieces into a bound book that they will be able to take with them at the end of the session.

Imagination Theatre
Imagination Theatre participants will begin by brainstorming story lines and composing a script.  Costume and set designers will be at work, while the actors work with the director and producer to learn their roles.  As the individual facets of the play come together, children will rehearse and perfect their personal responsibility of the production. Then, the preparation will culminate in a performance for all of the participants’ friends and family.  A DVD of the performance will be available for purchase.

Family and Friends Playtime
Children will meet new friends and enjoy the old as they play to their hearts' content. All play will encourage gross and fine motor development, as well as social interaction. The class will begin and end with "circle time," full of songs and parachute games. Parent or guardian participation encouraged.

Kids' Night Out
On select weekend evenings, kids can join their friends for a night of movies, munchies and activities while their parents hit the town. This will be a wonderful way for kids to meet new friends, hang out with old friends, participate in some fun and creative projects, enjoy some delicious munchies, and take in a flick.
