The Week of March 30th at Lupine Lane

This will be our last week of folktales!  Our next session will be full of Colonial Times fun!

In Lil' Absolutely Art, we'll begin with circle time where we'll sing and read the folktale "The Blue Coat."  "The Blue Coat" is about a mother who sews a coat for her son.  As he uses it, the mother continually reconstructs the tattered fabric into a new garment for her son to wear.  It is a beautiful tale of the love between a mother and child.  Then, Moms and their children will work together to tie dye their own shirt together.  When the shirt gets worn out, it can be made into something new, just like in the tale!

In Lil' Kinder Cooks, we'll begin with circle time, singing, and we'll read the folktale "The Tortoise and The Hare."  We'll then move to the tables for the cooking portion of the class where we'll make S'mores Granola Bars to fuel the Tortoise and the Hare for their big race.  While our granola bars are baking, some kids will become tortoises and some will become hares, and we will have our own races!

Family and Friends playtime will be full of circle time, rhythm instruments, singing, free play and parachute fun!  Bring your friends along!  We're enjoying all of the new faces!

Summer Schedules are now out!  Check the calendar at or the Lakeway and Round Rock websites for classes!  Sign up today!

I look forward to seeing you all this week!

The Week of March 23rd at Lupine Lane

This week will be full of folktale fun!

We will start Lil' Absolutely Art in our usual circle time, sing a greeting song and learn about Paul Bunyan, the giant lumberjack.  After we do this, we'll head to our art tables and find a surprise from Paul Bunyan...freshly cut wooden frames!  We'll start by taking a picture of Mommy and child (if you have a picture of you and your little one that you would like to bring in, you are more than welcome to do so.  The frames' openings are 3.5 x 3.5.).  Then, we'll "Mod Podge" paper shapes and our names onto the frames.

In Lil' Kinder Cooks, we will begin in circle time and have our greeting song.  Next, we'll read "The Lion and The Mouse," a folktale about two unlikely friends.  We'll find out that the lion's favorite food is pasta and the mouse loves cheese.  So, we'll combine the two ingredients into the perfect dish in honor of the two friends: Macaroni and Cheese (from scratch)!

Family and Friends Playtime will begin with circle time and songs then move in to free play.  We'll finish up with new parachute songs and games and our goodbye song!  I'm so glad that more little ones are coming out to enjoy the fun and make new buddies at Family and Friends Playtime!  The more the merrier!

See you all this week!

Spring Break Classes at Lakeway

Lakeway's classes will run as scheduled this week. We will take a break from our folktale theme this week for Spring Break. Here are the plans!

In Lil' Absolutely Art, we will be fabric painting and embellishing canvas bags. We will use foam letters to print our names or initials on the bags and then add some fun decor. Little ones can use these bags to help Mom carry projects home from Lupine Lane!

Family and Friends Playtime will go as usual. We will begin with a greeting song, have free play time, parachute play and sing our good bye song.

In Lil' Kinder Cooks, we will read "Pete's a Pizza" and make a delicious pizza from scratch!

See you on Thursday!

New Class Additions at Lupine Lane!

Lupine Lane will now offer Absolutely Art (Drop Off) on Monday afternoons from 1:45-2:45 beginning April 6th. The Absolutely Art on Mondays at 9:30 will remain as "Mommy and Me" and take on the "Lil" this summer.

Also, we will now offer Kinder Cooks at Miss Julie's Learning Center in Lakeway! We are so excited to cook delicious dishes with the sweet kids at Miss Julie's! Classes begin Tuesday, March 24th at 3:00pm.

I would like to clarify how "Mommy and Me" classes and "Drop Off" classes are indicated. The "Mommy and Me" classes are noted by a "Lil" in front of the class name, with the exception of Family and Friends Playtime, which is always "Mommy and Me."

Currently, at Clay Madsen, the classes that are "Mommy and Me" do not have a "Lil" in front, but will this summer.

Spring Break Classes

I would like to remind all those that attend Lupine Lane's classes at the Clay Madsen Rec Center that there will not be classes this week due to Spring Break camps.  However, our folktale session will be back March 23rd.

Lakeway's classes will continue normally this Thursday beginning with Absolutely At at 9:30, Family and Friends Playtime at 10:30 and Kinder Cooks at 11:45.

See you all there!

This Week at Lupine Lane...

Last week was a lot of fun with our little chicks as our guests! I'm so glad the children had a chance to see the little guys and were able to relate the chicks to our folktales and projects. This week, we will continue our session on folktales. We will be reading two stories that involve apples!

In Absolutely Art, we will begin with attendance, circle time songs, and the folktale "Four Friends." This is a story of four animal friends working together to plant a seed and grow a tree. When the friends work together, they are all able to benefit and enjoy the "fruits" of their labor. We will be stamp painting clay plant pots and use some embellishments to decorate them a bit more. I will bring some dirt and watermelon seeds to plant in our decorated pots. When the seeds begin to grow, you and your child will have to transplant it into the ground so the plant has enough room to grow and produce the fruit.

In Kinder Cooks, we will begin with attendance, circle time songs, and the folktale "Johnny Appleseed." We will talk a bit about apples and then make two treats. We will use the apple machine to core, peel and slice our apples. We'll use the peels to make Apple Peel Gummy Worms!!! Then, we'll use the other parts of the apple to make apple sauce! This will be delicious!

Also, we have quite a few little ones in Family and Friends Playtime now! We would love to have more kids to play! At Clay Madsen, FFP starts at 10:00 on Court B in the gym. At Lakeway, FFP starts at 10:30 in Room C. The cost is $8 for an hour of songs, games, play and parachute fun! Bring your little ones to FFP!
