The Summer Season Begins! The Week of June 1st at Lupine Lane

This Monday we kick off our Summer Season!  With several new locations and new class additions of Lil' Music Makers, Music Makers and Fun With Photography, this summer is guaranteed to be a blast!  Please check our calendar:
http://www.lupinelane.com/Pages/calendar.html for class locations, dates and times.

First, we'd like to thank the folks at Falcon Pointe for having Lupine Lane out to decorate cookies with the kiddos at the annual Barbeque Cook Off.  We are excited to head out to Falcon Pointe again next Saturday to tie-dye at the Summer Splash Party!

There are still spots available in our classes at Teravista and Falcon Pointe.  To sign up, mail or email your registration form to Lupine Lane before classes begin this Friday.

This week we won't be at Miss Julie's Learning Center due to graduation.  Congratulations to all the graduates!  We will now be offering Kinder Cooks on Fridays beginning June 12th.  Also, we will be participating in an open house for Miss Julie's Learning Center on Friday, June 26 after Kinder Cooks.

In all locations with the exception of Clay Madsen, we are able to prorate classes.  However, it is important to register and pay in advance to ensure that we have enough supplies for each kiddo.

Also, birthday party dates are filling up quickly!  If you are interested in Lupine Lane's handcrafted birthday parties, email or call us to secure a date.

On to this week's classes!  We will begin our "Ocean Session" this week!

In Lil' Absolutely Art and Absolutely Art, we will be decorating a beach bucket cap.  Then, children will paint a watercolor of themselves on a beach wearing their newly designed hat.

In Lil' Kinder Cooks and Kinder Cooks, we will be making delicious, not-so-crabby crab cakes, using my Italian Grandmother's recipe!  We will also make a delectable sauce for our crabby cakes!

In Lil' Music Makers and Music Makers, we will start with circle time and get to know each other with a basic song.  Then, we'll use puppets to act out "Sammy's Song."  We will get an introduction to the instruments we will be using throughout the class as we march to the Grand Ol' Duke of York.  This song and "Pop Goes the Weasel" will allow children to utilize their listening skills to move to the beat and play an instrument at the same time.

In Fun With Photography, we will begin our class with an explanation of lighting.  Children will gain an understanding of the type of light that is needed to create a high contrast image.  Then, we will load the images onto the computer to create Andy Warhol style images of each child.  Students will print 2 of their favorite styles.

We are ecstatic about beginning our summer season and meeting all of the new folks participating in classes, birthday parties and other events!

The Week of May 25th at Lupine Lane

Happy Memorial Day! I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend. Thank you to all of our military members and families, who keep us safe here at home!

Happy Birthday to McCa'an, Hasen and Egan! We enjoyed tie-dyeing at your wonderful party in the park!

This week at Lupine Lane, we will not be having classes at Round Rock. We'll use the holiday to gear up for the busy summer season ahead! It's best to register for classes early, as everything is beginning to fill up! Classes will go on as scheduled at Miss Julie's and Lakeway this week.

A couple of things to note for this summer. We will be changing Kinder Cooks from Tuesday to Friday at Miss Julie's. The time will remain the same from 3-4pm.

Also, we'll begin some private classes this summer at Olivia and Luna Islas' home. We are excited to offer Lil' Absolutely Art and Lil' Kinder Cooks to kids and Moms in Round Rock!

We enjoyed meeting Teravista Residents at last week's cookie decorating meet and greet! We are looking forward to more cookie decorating and meeting the folks at Falcon Pointe at the Barbeque Cook Off this Saturday from 4-6pm. We'll also be tie-dying at the Summer Splash Party at the Falcon Pointe Residence Club on June 6th from 3-7pm. We hope to meet new students and parents there!

On another note, I would like to give a huge thank you to Lynda Acuna and all of the Moms that attended last Thursday's Lil' Absolutely Art at the Lakeway Activity Center! We enjoyed having everyone and hope to see you all again!

In Lil' Absolutely Art and Absolutely Art, we'll be reading "Gertrude McFuzz" and talk about how everyone is beautiful, just the way they are. Then, we'll make a Gertrude McFuzz of our own!

In Lil' Kinder Cooks and Kinder Cooks, we'll be reading "The Cat and the Hat Comes Back" and baking personal cakes, like the cake that the cat eats in the tub!

This week will conclude our Dr. Seuss Session! What a great time it was! We'll begin an Ocean Session in June, just in time for Summer beach season!

Lastly, let us know (if you haven't yet) if you would like a personal slideshow from last session. They are coming out wonderfully and will make lovely gifts for family and friends! For those who have placed orders, they will be complete by this Friday and we will contact you as to how we will get them to you all asap.

See you all soon!

The Week of May 18th at Lupine Lane

Hello all! First of all, I would like to give a BIG, HUGE thank you to Olivia and Luna Islas, who hosted a demo for Lupine Lane's Handcrafted Birthday Parties! We had a great time with our Winnie the Pooh Theme. We did the Tigger Bounce, played Pin the Tail on Eeyore, painted Hundred Acre Wood Frames and decorated Pooh Cookies! Olivia has a business called Cakes By Olivia, and she donated a delicious Winnie the Pooh Cake and Cupcakes! What a great time! If you are interested in Lupine Lane's Handcrafted Birthday Parties, call or email Lauren at 512-565-1501 or lboyle@lupinelane.

This week in Lil'Absolutely Art and Absolutely Art, we will be reading "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish." Then, we'll be using glass paint to paint the fish bowls. We'll also take a photo of our group and put it on a red or blue fish to decorate.

In Lil' Kinder Cooks and Kinder Cooks, we'll be reading "Fox in Socks," and we'll make the Poodle's Noodles from the story using a Pasta Machine!! We'll also make some Alfredo sauce to top our homemade noodles! Deeelish!

Also, just a reminder, please let us know (if you haven't yet) if you would like a personalized musical slideshow DVD of your child in Lupine Lane classes ($12 for the first DVD and $8 for each additional). The Week of May 11th at Lupine Lane

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~Washington Irving

Hello all, and Happy Mother's Day! Everything that we do at Lupine Lane would not be possible without all of the wonderful Mothers! Thank you. This week in classes, we'll celebrate Mother's Day!

In Lil' Absolutely Art and Absolutely Art, we will continue our Dr. Seuss Theme and read "Are You My Mother?" Then, we will be making imprints of the kiddo's hands in plaster, along with Mother's Day Cards!

In Lil' Kinder Cooks and Kinder Cooks, we will be reading "Daisy-Head Mayzie" and making burgers, just like she makes in the story. If anyone is vegetarian and Miss Lauren doesn't know, email me, and I'll bring a veggie burger. We'll also decorate a daisy cookie, like Daisy always has on her head, to give to Mom!

Also, the End of Season Brunch is up for registration on the www.roundrockrecreation.com. We'd love to see all of the Lupine Lane participants for a celebration with food, games, music, pictures, a craft and lots of fun!

The Week of May 4th at Lupine Lane

Hello! Save the date for Lupine Lane's End of Season Brunch on Saturday May 30th at the Clay Madsen Recreation Center! Although the event is in Round Rock, all past, present and future Lupine Lane students from all locations are invited! The planning is in the final stages (we are still firming up the time), so look for it this week on www.roundrockrecreation.com to sign up!

It would be wonderful if parents can begin to round up some projects that the kids have done over the season. We'll put everything on a lovely display for everyone to check out! For brunch, we will be making fluffy omlettes, Belgian waffles, perfect potatoes and fresh orange juice. The children will decorate a keepsake frame for a group photo of Lupine Lane kids from Spring 2009. There will also be a play area for little ones so parents can enjoy all of the displayed items and a musical slideshow of moments from class. For a personalized musical slideshow DVD of your child, email lboyle@lupinelane.com to order ($12). These make wonderful Mother and Father's Day gifts! The cost of the End of Season Brunch is $15 per participating
child, $5 per adult, $3 per additional children, free for children under 12 months. It is sure to be a special day! We hope to see all past, present and future Lupine Lane students there!

This week, we'll begin our Seuss Session! I am ecstatic to begin using the imaginative world of Dr. Seuss as an inspiration for our projects!

In Lil' Absolutely Art and Absolutely Art, we will be reading the Cat in the Hat and make his crazy red and white striped hat! The red and white stripes will be just the beginning of these unique hats that Dr. Seuss would have loved! After we all put the stripes together, the kids will personalize the hats with pom poms, ribbon, buttons, jewels, and their initials!

In Lil' Kinder Cooks and Kinder Cooks, we will be reading Green Eggs and Ham. Then, we'll make a most delicious version of Green Eggs and Ham with sunny side up eggs, ham and homemade guacamole and on toast! Yum, yum!

Lastly, Lupine Lane is excited to add 2 new locations! We will be offering drop off Absolutely Art, Kinder Cooks and Fun With Photography for ages 6-10 at Teravista and Falcon Pointe!
